Assistant Planning Engineer/Hydraulic Modeler

  • Client is a water utility company in Fontana
  • Position is Temp-to-Hire
  • Shift is Monday – Friday from 7:00am – 5:00pm, alternating Friday’s from 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • Salary is $36 – $40/hour ($75,000 – $85,000/annually) Depending on experience

Under the direction of the Planning Manager, assist in the preparation of a variety of planning and engineering studies, hydraulic models, plans, exhibits and reports for water production, treatment, storage and distribution facilities and structures. As well as assist in the preparation and update of SGV’s master plan.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare designs in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Assist in the preparation of the capital improvement program budgets
  • Assist in the preparation of design reports, plans, calculations, project schedules, cost estimates, and analyses for capital improvement projects
  • Perform hydraulic modeling studies and analyses
  • Assist to perform condition assessments of San Gabriel’s capital infrastructure
  • Assist in the preparation of descriptions, exhibits, and justifications for capital improvement projects
  • Other tasks and duties as directed

Ideal candidates should possess the following skills/qualifications demonstrated through previous work experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Familiarity of the latest version of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Ability to follow technical specifications and assist in the design water distribution projects utilizing computer-aided design software
  • Knowledge of GIS related software
  • Ability to produce neat and accurate drawings
  • Engineer-in-Training certification preferred
  • One year of experience in water distribution system design and planning preferred
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design theory, principles, and construction practices in modern water treatment, production and distribution facilities desired
  • Ability to interact with other employees and the public in a cooperative and professional manner
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and have a neat and presentable appearance
  • Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Ability to perform repetitive physical activities including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, digging, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
